Samsung might launch a new pair of TWS earbuds soon. Rumors about the new Galaxy Buds emerged a few days back, but details were scarce. All we had was its model number, SM-R400N. However, the earbuds have now made it to the FCC. The American regulatory agency has just certified the wearable, hinting at a nearing launch.

The FCC website has listed the upcoming Samsung earbuds with the same model rumored before (SM-R400NL for the left bud and SM-R400NR for the right bud). As usual, the accompanying documents don’t reveal anything notable about the wearable. Just the standard stuff, like support for Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The earbuds were tested with BudsOdin 2.0 software.

However, as said before, this is an indication that Samsung is nearing the launch of the new TWS pair. The Korean firm has several other devices lined up for launch in a few months. The Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Tab S9 FE, Galaxy Tab S9 FE+, Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab A9+, and Galaxy SmartTag 2 are all expected to debut before the end of the year. The new Galaxy Buds may also come alongside these products.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Buds may be affordable TWS earbuds

The lack of details about the Samsung SM-R400N means we can’t confirm where it sits in the company’s current audio lineup. Its model number suggests that it won’t be a Pro series offering. The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro (model number SM-R510), which arrived in August 2022, are the Korean firm’s last TWS earbuds. They are still quite capable and one of the best options out there.

If this assumption about its model number turns out to be accurate, then the new pair could be a successor to the Galaxy Buds 2 from August 2021. In that case, it might be called the Galaxy Buds 3. However, Samsung also has a Plus series (the Galaxy Buds+ launched in February 2020) and a Live series (the Galaxy Buds Live launched in August 2020) of TWS earbuds. The upcoming earbuds might be a successor to one of these as well.

Either way, if it’s a non-Pro model, we are looking at an affordable pair of TWS earbuds from Samsung. Hopefully, we will have more information soon. The Korean behemoth appears to be planning to release the buds alongside one of its upcoming products. Even if it delays the launch, the new audio products should arrive alongside the Galaxy S24 series. The next-gen Samsung flagships will debut in January or February 2024.
